Life Cycle Cost Analysis Comparison of Hot Mix Asphalt and Reclaimed Asphalt Pavement: A Case Study

In the construction and maintenance of asphalt pavement, reclaimed pavement (RAP) is being widely used as a cheaper alternative to conventional hot mix (HMA). HMA incorporated with high RAP content (e.g., 40%), which most commonly used, may have prominent adverse effects on life cycle, performance properties, related costs. Thus, before utilizing RAP, it essential investigate whether still economical use under local climate by taking into consideration cycle performance. Therefore, for this paper, case study was conducted using 20% assessed in terms materials cost analysis. The results analysis showed that, from total costing measurement, 14% reduction reported compared materials. Moreover, two (conventional RAP) are manufactured different types manufacturing plants. analyzing difference between chosen plants virgin 57% observed plant. Besides this, no rest phases, such manpower, transportation, activities, same procedures machinery used. Furthermore, assessing carbon dioxide impact cost, transportation emissions were considered, while plant’s operation emission omitted due unavailability data.
